Woolacott, S Molton. Anyhthing available
« on: Sunday 05 June 05 08:43 BST (UK) »
Hi Friends,  Just setting out on enquiries into this bit of family so here is the initial request.

The child - William Frost Woolacott b. 1845 S. Molton

Trying to confirm -  Father Jonathon Woolacott.  Mother Mary Frost

Birth before marriage (I think)
Unable to find marriage entry

A birth entry would be a big help.

Jonathon's father was also Jonathon and he married a Sarah May (or Mary)obviously in the late 1700's.

I know this is almost nothing to go on, but I have seen results on this fantastic site which approach the truly miraculous.  It's worth a try!!
Thanks.  sue

Hi Sue,

The birth of William Frost Woolacott was registered in the Sep quarter 1845, South Molton District, Vol 10, Page 175.

This should help.

Hi Debbi,

PM not received as yet- but I am a patient man.

In the meantime what about the marriage of Mary Frost and John Woolacott.   This was registered in the June quarter 1843 in the South Molton District Vol.10 Page 331.

Hi Debbi,
Don't know who you sent the PM to.  Me or Peter.  Whichever way, I can't read any message although my email screen shows that one has been sent from you .  The window will not open when I "click to view'   Is it worth trying again?  Don't know where the problem is.

Thanks Peter for the marriage.

Sue,

I did send a PM with a offer of doing a look up at the Record Office which I didnt want to post as it encourages others to ask and I have so much to do already and I hate to turn people away.
However it seems my PMs may be blocked so I have to post it here now >:(
I shall do your look up tomorrow for the marriage in the Record Office in Barnstaple.

Best Wishes

Debbi

Hello Debbi,
That's very kind of you indeed and I am most appreciative.  I eventually did get your PM.  I do find the whole email process strangely unreliable at times and quite possibly, the fault is with me.  We tend to depend on it a bit here in faraway Aust.!
I will look forward to learning of anything you come across re Woolacotts of Devon.

Could you answer a question for me?  To discover a 1841 census entry, would one need to have an address?  That is, the census is not indexed by name?  Sue

Hi There Kris,
Those Woolacotts are interesting .  Thanks.  The spelling of the name is usually all over the place.
I have decided to abandon the whole name Jonathon as you very rarely see it on bmd or IGI and John seems the way to go.
I was hoping to see on the 1841 census a bachelor John aged about 22 living with his mother (maybe Sarah ..) and father.  I'm pretty sure father was also John.
John jnr was a carpenter I think.  Did you see the trade carpenter mentioned or similar?
He and Mary Frost married 1843 and emmigrated to Aust in 1848 with little William and Mary. I have quite good info after that, but long to get back a bit further as we all do!  I appreciate your interest.  Sue
