James Alexander was born in 1726 to his parents John and Margaret Glasson who emigrated to County Armagh, Ireland from Scotland. They emigrated in 1736-37 to America landing at Philidelphia or New Castle, Delaware. This two fold emigration is said to probably be occasioned by the persecutions to which Presbyterians were subjected to first in Scotland then in Ireland. James and his family settled in Cumberland County, PA. then his parents afterwards to Franklin County, PA where they died. James their second son married in Cumberland County, Rosey daughter of Robert Reed and his wife maiden name Garner. Any information on the birth records for James and who his siblings were-appreciated. James dau Elizabeth Alexander b Kishacoquillas valley, PA, 1768 married in 1786 John Wakefield son of Matthew and Bridget Banks Wakefield who emigrated to the US before 1783.  It is said the Alexanders settled the "Big Cove" in Bedford County, PA-was Fulton-now Franklin County, PA, ithe Big Cove area was settled by Scotch-Irish Presbyterians, Covenanter's May 1750. TF,  there was no persecution of Presbyterians in Scotland after the Revolution in 1689. Possibly they moved for financial reasons or to join relatives.
