« on: Monday 18 February 13 23:51 GMT (UK) »
Folks,

would anyone know of a full genealogy for Father Laurence Murphy and Dr. Myles Murphy, Bishop of Ferns. They are nephews of Fr. Michael Murphy of 1798.

Gentlemen would be my ggg Uncles.

Cheers,
Steve

According to the book 'The secular priests of the diocese of ferns'
Bishop Myles was born on Sept 8th 1787. Parents were Nicholas Murphy and Mary Foley. A brother James was killed in the battle of Hacketstown. A brother Michael was a priest and died 5th September 1820 while curate in Wexford. A third brother Laurence was adopted into the diocese of Ossory and died 11th August 1847.

Cheers, that helps somewhat.

I have found a reference that talks about a trip to Wexford in 1875 by my ggUncle Owen Murphy, at the time Mayor of Quebec City.  Owens father was Nicholas Murphy and mother Ellen O'brien. Refers to younger Fr. Michael, Myles and Lawrence as being Nicholas' brothers and Michael 1798 as Uncle.

Same reference quotes Wexford Independant which talks about the trip and mentions these ties.

My gggGrandfather Nicholas born about 1785 and emigrated with wife and several children about 1820.

I have a feeling Owen Murphy called to our house in Co. Wexford on that visit to Ireland.
