elizabeth ward 11 wife sister scholar  norfolk norwich

Census 1871               Address:Devonshire Street, Lakenham, Norwich

                                                                          Age    Occupation      Where Born
 Household
Ann    Sutherland     Head  (Widow)            44                                            Norwich
Richard                       Son                         23       Packer in  shoe factory   Sussex
Jane                              Dau                                 12      Week Girl                  Norwich
  Elizabeth                     Dau                                  10    Scholar                        Norwich
  Sarah                           Dau                                    7  Scholar                         Norwich
    Edwin                        Son                             4          Scholar                           Norwich
sarah ward              servent                                  39 Domestic                      Norwich
john  Ward                 boarder                          37        Waterman                  Norwich

(  children appear to have births registered as ward but used sutherland .) later in life  a couple also seem to give both names

She never married John sutherland ( he appeared to have 2 families 1 in Brighton and this one in Norwich )

i have thought for a number of years using the information
from above 2 census

that the entrys on 1841,1851  census is  my Ann ward uing this to trace parents etc

841  Census
Church Yard, Norwich St Julian

John Ward 40 Smith
Anne do 35
Anne do 14
Thomas do 12
Sarah do 10
John do 8
Samuel do 4
Mary do 1
All born in county
HO107/789/6 Pg8

1851 (Copy2006)  otherseem to link  to above family
Norwich St Peter Mancroft
matilda baker   wife      34 shoe maker   Thurton, Norfolk
Ann playford     visitor 24  seamstress

so for a long while i have assumed my Ann ward was Ann Playford ward born 1826
parents Ann jacobs  and John Playford ward

but now with a lot more things on line
i have come across a death on the FreeBMD  Jan / march 1854  norwich   for a    Ann Playford Ward
so i am now confused
How old was this Ann Playford ward ? if she was 27 she cant be my gtgt grandmother

so i would like sugestions for births in Norwich for  Ann Ward with  Sister Elizabeth born 1850 ( 1861 census )
and possible sister sarah and john  ward ( 1871 census )

i also have not found her death either as Ann ward or Ann sutherland after 1871 census

Looks like Ann Sutherland married a William Newstead in Sept.quarter 1876 Norwich.

In 1881 William - in Heigham - shown as a widower and deaths reveal an Ann Newstead bc.1827 in June.qtr.1880 Norwich.

Think that the Ann Playford Ward who died in 1854 was Ann Wards mother.

Her father also died shortly after - John Playford Ward Mar.qtr.1858 Norwich.

Think this indeed is the family of Ann Ward but you would need to get the marriage certificate of when she married William Newstead in 1876 to confirm her father.

Found a number of baptisms but they vary between Playford Ward or Ward Playford:

Anne Playford Ward bp.19/7/1826 Heigham
Thomas Playford Ward bp.2/7/1828 Heigham
family move to Norwich
Sarah Ward Playford bp.25/7/1830 St. Augustine, Norwich
John bc.1832/33 - can't see a clearcut baptism for him
Samuel Ward bp.22/4/1838 St. Julian, Norwich
Mary bc.1839/40 - can't see a clearcut baptism for her
Elizabeth Playford Ward bp.5/3/1843 St. Julian, Norwich
Emma Jane Playford Ward bp.19/10/1845    ditto
Eliza Playford Ward bp.24/9/1848                ditto

Think the sister on 1861 census should possibly be youngest sister Eliza.

Familysearch shows that Ann Playford Ward was bur.27/3/1854 in Norfolk but not in which parish.

However, an Ann Playford Ward birth was reg'd Mar.qtr.1854 Norwich and as the death was also reg'd in Norwich I would say these 2 events are one and the same and the death was this infant.
