Edward  Butler born Layton in 1876. Don't know parents name, siblings or anything further back. He briefly lived in West Ham, then Wolverton Buckinghamshire

i also don't have a date or death location for him.

Did he marry?  A copy of his marriage cert should give his fathers name

West Ham was the registration district for Leyton and the nearest birth on freebmd is Edward Horace Butler in 1878

Did you get his birthplace from the 1901 census?  If so - I think you may be confusing his birthplace with that of his son Edward

Did you check freebmd for his marriage?  Entry shows he was Edward George W

You will find his birth on freebmd in 1876 but as there are several possibilities on the 1881 census you will need to buy a copy of his birth cert to get his parents names

I am fairly sure he is Edward William. birthplace is listed on 1911 cencus as leyton. I'll pop his spouses name  up later if it helps.

son is also Edward William but born 1911 in wolverton.
