Michael Condon/Catherine Condon
« on: Tuesday 26 February 13 14:47 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I have found the 1880 census of Michael and Catherine on Family Search. They were both born in USA but thier fathers were from Ireland, I beleive they were from Tipperary or Wateford.  Is there any way I am able to find the names of thier fathers.
Am I able to send for the marriage cet, if so where would I send to.

Maggie

Each U.S. state keeps it own vital records (births, deaths, marriages) but most marriage and death certifciates show names of borth parents. Details on certificates do vary from state to state and registration periods do vary so you need to check the state they married in (or where you think they married).
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

There are multiple couples in 1880 with these or similar names.  Which one is the one you are looking at?

I am looking at 1880 census where Michael is 32 years old, married and a farmer, his wife Cathern Condon is also on there as are thier children John aged 5, and Mary aged 3

They're in Florence, Oneida Co., New York.  New York did not require statewide vital registration until 1881, so what's available on the local or county level prior to that can be hit or miss.

The best way to proceed would probably to find when/where they died, as a death certificate may be more likely to exist.

This does seem like a possibility for Michael in the 1850 Census in the same town as 1880:  https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MCBG-72J
