The Exeter Flying Post for 7th March 1822 reports the arrival at Exmouth of the "Traveller", Goodsir. Presumably that was the Transfer.

I can find mention of an "Eleanor/a, Goodsir" in 1826/27 (no first name)

Just focusing on reported arrivals at Newcastle, I can see the Eleanor, Goodsir in 1826, 1828, 1829

and the Brothers, Goodsir, several mentions in 1830

Have contacted the Yarmouth Newspaper and the helpful Lady there, is going to get her Archivist to see what they can find on'Transfer' What she did also say which could be of GENERAL INTEREST Is that the Yarmouth Church has an ongoing project to list all graves of drowned seamen buried there, and it seems - there are a lot!
John

Yes, John, That is of General Interest. Why don't you join The Mariners List and post that tidbit there?

Cheers,
Westoe

Shaun

You have 'put the kitten among the sparrows' or too many Goodsirs make a ??
Hope it is, but don't see either of those ships on Dawn's list of Cornwall ships. Have tried RNLI, but their records I am informed, do not go back that far, also received back from Yarmouth Paper's Archivist - no luck there either, still hoping to get a reply from Dawn ( if I sent it to the right Dawn )

Hello Westoe

Could you please give me source for death of Tammy, and any burial details you might have, as having tried Sunderland records for Thomas's death, got negative reply, and if he went after Tammy, might be buried in same spot ?

The story of the sinking of the Transit and what happened to the crew, must I think remain a mystery, as can find no other avenues of research, and it is not certain exactly what happened to Thomas Goodsir, without help from Cornwall Shipping Company records.

That is as far as we can go?

Best
