Details from Mike confirm that the 1838 marriage of George Harris was to Elizabeth ASHDON (ASHDAN)
and not Elizabeth ELDRIDGE

My Elizabeth (Eldridge)had five children. Samuel and Seliina Abigail were two of them.

I gave up searching about six years ago and have only just begun again.

This explains my lack of experience when searching.

When were your Samuel & Selina Abigail Harris born?

Do you have a birth certificate of Selina Abigail Harris or one of her other children confirming their mother's maiden name is ELDRIDGE?

Ladyhawk,

Yes it is, I'm sure as I've been searching this afternoon. It was strange the confusion over the other Elizabeth. They both seemed to fit in but I later found Eliz. Eldridge on a census as an elderly, single lady.
Can you tell me where I can find the photograph of Samuel Harris that you previously mentioned? If he died in 1964 I should know him, as he would be my great-uncle and I remember him at my grandmother's funeral in 1959, when I was 16.
Many thanks,
Rosie

 Mike,
Thank you for insisting. You were right.  It was Ashton, as you can see from the message I have just posted to Ladyhawk.
Do you live in the Lubenham area, as you mentioned you had been into the Records Office? That would be in Market Harborough, wouldn't it?
I have lived in Spain for almost fifty years so can only rely on my computer for information. This includes, of course, the help of good friends such as you people.

http://www.ancestry.co.uk/  You need a subscription

Here's some info. from the tree

wife's name Nellie Annie they had 5 children

a child that died was named Adeline Maud Harris born 1907 Northampton died 1986 Warwick

Does that ring any bells ?

I'm not sure if the picture will be on here but this is a free site to join where you should be able to view the tree
