Durham Bishop Transcripts
« on: Monday 04 March 13 11:49 GMT (UK) »
Hi

Could anyone please help me to find a record in the Durham Bishop's Transcripts.

It is a baptism in 1839 in Easington, but I can't for the life of me find 1839.

It is for : -

John Williamson Baptised Easington 1839 - New Thornley.

Thanks

Mo

BT's go straight from 1938 to 1840. The record is on Durham Records Online - it might be worth paying for the transcript. There's not a lot of information on baptismal records at this time anyway.

I know that when it was the Pilot search, some of the BTs were not in the correct order, (unsure if this is still the case) - the other thing you could do is trudge through page by page in case 1839 is hidden elsewhere.  :-\

You can see an example of a Baptism Register after 1812 at http://www.durhamrecordoffice.org.uk/Pages/BaptismMarriageandBurialRegistersAfter1812.aspx

Well found leka.  :)
Do you mind me asking whereabouts you found the 1839 records?
