Lee Family Leicester UK

 Hi, I am a newby and not sure how this works. I am searching for the LEE Family from Leicester UK. My Grandparents were Ellen Annie Lee Nee Herbert born around 1881 and George Lee born around 1879. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You

Two key tools to get you started are a sub' to one of the Census online providers, and using the Births, Deaths & Marriages Indexes - BMD.

Looking via FreeBMD site, your grandparents married in Lutterworth Registration District in 1907.

If you obtain a copy of the Marriage Certificate from the Online ONS (Govt agency), you will see more facts about the couple to confirm their Fathers names & occupations (usually), and their own ages, occupations and addresses.

Then you can look for them and their ancestors in the Census online from 1841 to 1911 - one provider I use is www.ancestry.co.uk - there are others - all have pros & cons.

I had a look at the 1901 census, and there are 3 George Lees in Leic*, but only one living in the overall Lutterworth Dist.

He was born and living in Shearsby, with parents William (a Leather Dresser, born in Leicester) and Martha. This young George is also a Leather Dresser.

Cross referencing to information on the Marriage Cert will confirm if this is the correct family.

Similarly, there is an Ellen A Herbert in Arnesby (Lutterworth Dist), born Wigston - parents George & Bertha.... George is a Framework Knitter ....

If you have an Arthur Clarence Victor Lee in your ancestry, then these two people are the correct individuals in the 1901 census.
