Can anyone help with the parents of Henry Ponsonby Porteous born in 14 March 1862 Sunderland.
I can not find him in the 1871 census.
Any help much appreciated.

As additional information has now been given in reply 2 I've removed the post I originally put here, since it was clearly completely incorrect

His mother was called Selina and I have found her in the 1881 census as Selina Herricks born in 1828 Portsmouth living in Bishopwearmouth Durham. I have found the death of her husband George Porteous in 1866 so she may have re married Herricks or Harricks. I can not find them in the 1871 census.
