Mary Coughlan - Waterford

Mary Coughlan was born in Kill, Waterford in 1839, baptised 11/01/1839.

Her family all moved to Cumberland, England about 1860 ish, maybe just before. I found all her brothers and sister and parents in Cumberland but no trace of her.

Can anyone look her up to see if she married in Waterford or another county.

Civil registration of Catholic marriages in Ireland started in 1864 (from 1845 for non-Catholic ones)- before these dates you need to se if church records exist but this will be difficult since you only have a name of possible bride.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Irish Genealogy website is a good source but Waterford records have not yet been put online. I used a researcher from Waterford Heritage about 10 years ago to get the baptism records of the family.

I could do the same again but was hoping someone local might have access to church records? I don't know if she travelled with her parents as she was 20 or so by that time. There is one Irish Mary Coughlan recorded in Cumberland at that time but in a different town/area to "my" Coughlans.

I contacted her descendants some time ago and they are sure that there is no connection.

William Coughlan and Margaret Donovan. Their marriage is a mystery and were most likely married in West Cork as the family story has them coming from Cork.
