Hi all

The Army Cadet Force was founded in 1859 it was formed when Britain was under threat from the French. In 1860 a Miss Octavia Hill  formed the first ACF Detachment in Southwark. today has something like 14500 detachments.

Public Schools have there own detachments and are normally CCF.

The MOD funds the cadet movement and Cadets have no military liability what so ever nowadays it takes youngsters from the age of 11 to 18years9months.

OTC are Officer training Units and as such from memory have allways came under the jurisdiction of the Army with their own colleges (I think) someone who knows better will tell me otherwise.
