Heaven family of Allegheny, Pennsylvania;
« on: Friday 15 March 13 02:52 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
I am hoping that there is someone who can help me trying to locate my 2nd Great uncle - Joseph Heaven.  He arrived at Ellis Island 11th April, 1892 with his wife Hannah, and children Annie, Agnes, Alfred, William, Wallace, Ada, Lucy and Elsie.  Joseph was born circa 1843 , Horsley, Gloucestershire, England, death is unknown.  He came back to England in 1908 when he was 60 with two of his daughters - Lucy (19) and Elsie (17).  Joseph became a United States citizen 1906.  In 1920 USA census he was living East Pittsburgh Ward 3, Allegheny, Pennsylvania with daughter Elsie and son-in-law, Berorein Dugan.  After 1920 I have lost hime.
Any help would be appreciated.
Seraphic

If RunKitty is right here he is on the 1921 Index of Philadelphia Deaths. He is the 150 section of the index (the numbers being the first characters before every name) Joseph is in the right hand column of the 150 section. Died 23 April 1921 and death registered in East Pittsburgh. He should be on the 1920 census too.

I tried to give you the link to the Index but it would not work!

Thankyou so much to both of you.  You not only found Joseph, but you have been able to find his wife Hannah.  I live in South Australia, so I truly appreciate your help.
Seraphic.

Hi again,

Barryd, that is a great resource!!  I think you can get into the page you found from here.
http://www.portal.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt?open=514&objID=1085804&mode=2

Elsie and her husband in 1930.  He uses the name Burt.

Added... Looking at the image of the 1920 census, I think his name is Bertram??

It just keep getting better.  The web page for the death records worked fine, and have added to my favourites, as some of Joseph and Hannah's children stayed in Pennsylvania, as well the "Find a Grave web page also has been added.  Great work to all of you.
