Petit BREED / Mary SMITH - Biggleswade.

Hi,

I am looking for any info re a Petit BREED and Mary SMITH who married 29 Oct 1754, Biggleswade.

Possible children are Elizabeth 1756, Thomas 1759, Ann 1761, Mary 1771 and Sarah 1775, all Biggleswade.

There is a possibility that Petit is the son of Thomas BREED / Elizabeth WARBIS but I have nothing to confirm this.

Mary SMITH, not the most obscure name.

I have possible deaths for the two from FreeREG but no ages given.

Death Petit BREED 26 Aug 1804, Biggleswade.
Death Mary BREED 21 Nov 1805, Biggleswade.

Should anyone have anything to help me on my way I would be most grateful.

There is no further details on the marriage entry, however all the baptisms have him as a labourer.
Thomas Breed married Elizabeth Warbis on 21 Apr 1717 but there are no Breed children baptised at Biggleswade for them. The burials you mention are there with Petit Breed being a Pauper & Mary Breed being a widow, property ?.  Elizabeth Breed (ne Warbis), widow was buried 14 Feb 1770.

I found marriage of another Petitt Breed to Ann Stanton at Biggleswade on 11 Oct 1771; have you found his baptism ?

Hi John,

I was aware of the second Petit but am unable to locate any baptismal info regarding either of them.

My interest is with Petit/Mary's first born, Elizabeth - bap 1756.

When I first came across Petit Breed I was quite excited but then came tumbling back down to earth when I discovered that he married Mary Smith. Nothing against Mary Smith of course, just a little harder to trace. Having said that, there is probably more info available on Mary than there is on Petit. Such is life..!!
