Dunfermline City Police
« on: Friday 15 March 13 20:43 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone know if there are any photos on record of the police constables that served with Dunfermline City Police?
My great grandfather Archibald Cook served as a constable in 1882 age 27 in the Dunfermline City Police, and later he became a miner. I guess the pay was not as good then.

Looking for more info of when he was in the force and perhaps record of his badge number and his notes. :)

Very wierd Cat, a town and former royal burgh, delusions of grandeur possibly.
The way things are looking they might not even have a football team shortly.

Bests,

Skoosh.

Re the Dunfermline City debate:

In 1856 the burgh of Dunfermline resolved to use the title of "city" in all official documents in the future, based on long usage and its former status as a royal capital.   In the late 1990s, the UK government and the Scottish Executive re-examined the definition of a city and produced a list of "approved cities", from which several traditional Scottish cities, including Dunfermline. were omitted.
