Possible Marriage in Scotland
« on: Sunday 17 March 13 16:00 GMT (UK) »
Henry Washington Harding b. London 1884 married 1904 London. His wife Annie Lewis Harding nee Charman left him and had two children by another man 1913/1914. Henry filed for Divorce 1919 final Decree 1921. Poor persons's Divorce. Occupation of Henry as Musician.
1919 Henry was living at 102 Cambridge Street, Glasgow Scotland but domiciled in England.
My Question:-
Did Henry meet a lady who he wished to marry and is there a marriage in Scotland around 1921/22.
Would it be possible for sks to check for me.
If it is possible for Henry to have Poor persons Divorce why did he wait for five years.
Have searched for marriages and deaths and emigration for Henry in England but he has disappeared. Can anyone help? Many thanks, Syljun

  • Manners cost nothing, and are worth the effort.

There is a death in Liverpool North, Henry W Harding, June 1938, aged 54, also another in Camberwell, Henry W Harding, September 1941, aged 56. Found nothing in Scotland.

Regards

Malky

Thanks Malky, Have investigated those and bought 1941 one at Camberwell. Have discounted four
1954 at Amersham - 1941 Camberwell - Brentford 1914 (before discovering he was in Scotland 1921) and Liverpool North 1938.  He must be somewhere but giving me the runaround. Thanks for looking. Syljun

He may have had to wait 5 years owing to the First World War.

Henry Washington Harding
....
Did Henry meet a lady who he wished to marry and is there a marriage in Scotland around 1921/22.
Would it be possible for sks to check for me.

There is no marriage in the Scotland's People index of a Henry W* Harding at any time from 1855 to 2011. There are 20 marriages of plain Henry Harding, ten before 1915, one in 1919 and ten after 1925. Therefore none in the period 1921 to 1924. You can check this free of charge for yourself at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
