Looking for William
« on: Monday 18 March 13 10:43 GMT (UK) »
I haven't found my G. Uncle William Russell after 1941 census.
On the passenger list for The "Constance' arriving in Hobart 18 Aug 1858 is William Russell & his family. I don't know if this is him, but I thought if anyone could see them on a census after 1858 it would give his place of birth.
Also the ships departure was from Gravesend which was where his parents & brother were living in 1851.

Hi June

I think this is the same family, in the 1851 Census:

Clements Field, Parish of Ore, Sussex
HO107 / Piece 1635 / Folio 104 / Pg2
Head: Job W RUSSELL 30, R il Lab, b Limehouse, Middlesex
Wife: Eliza 27, b Tonbridge Kent
Dau: Mary Ann 4,  b Tonbridge Kent
Dau: Frances 3, b Croydon, Surrey
Dau: Martha 2, b All Brighton, Shropshire
Dau: Eliza 8 mths, b Ore, Sussex
Father: Jonas RUSSELL 60, wid, R il Lab, b Salisbury, Wilts
Brother: Thomas RUSSELL 20, unm, R il Lab, b Hatfield, Herts
Visitor: John HOGELL 30, unm, R il Lab, b Uxbridge, Middlesex
Servant: Ann PUTT 14, unm, Allwork, b Plymouth, Devon

Not yours, as this one is living with his father & brother in Sussex  :(

Cheers
