The IGI at Family Search says that Susan Carnegie, daughter of Isabel Carnegie, was born in the parish of Lochlee on 12 June 1857, and suggests that in the 1861 census she was still living in Lochlee. You could get a copy of that census at
www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk.
The most likely place to find information about her father would be in the minutes of the Kirk Session, if they have survived. They are probably in the National
Archives Records of Scotland, but they are not available online; you'd need to go there in person, or get someone to go on your behalf. If the family home was in the parish of Edzell, it could be in the records of Edzell Kirk Session; or it could be in Lochlee, where Susan was born.
The 1881 census gives Isabella's age as 37 and her birthplace as Aberlemno. If this is accurate, she would have been born in 1837/8.
I speculate that Isabella was the daughter of William Carnegie and Susan Fairweather. Family Search lists the following children, though there are some inconsistencies
David, born 23 March 1832, Aberlemno
John, born 1 December 1833, Aberlemno
George, born 15 February 1834, Edzell
Susan, born 25 February 1836, Edzell
William, born 18 May 1842, Edzell
Martha, born 24 March 1845, Edzell
Helen, born 12 November 1848, Edzell
Ann, born 20 April 1850, Edzell
James, born 2 May 1850, Lochlee
Ann Bowick, born 2 February 1851, baptised Brechin
Clearly there is at least one error in the last three, which may arise because the three are recorded in different parishes; and if John was born in December 1833, George cannot possible have been born in February 1834. So it is necessary to check the originals of all these baptisms to weed out the spurious information. Also, Isabella is missing from the list.
However she is in the 1841 census at Invereskandy, Edzell, where the household consists of William Carnegie, 30, meal maker; Susan, 30; David, 10; John, 8: Isabella, 3; William, 1; James Fairweather, 15, meal make. All except William Sr born in Angus. Isabella' s age corresponds to that of Isabella Carnegie or Murray in 1881.
Isabella's marriage certificate should tell you the names of her parents, so if you don't already have that, I recommend you to get it from
www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk.
