Hi,
I am desperately trying to find any trace of the following family shown in the 1841 census:
HO107/142 Folio 38 Page 20
Long Rock
Penwith Cornwall
UREN John 45 Yes Farmer
UREN Alice 35 Y
UREN Elizabeth 15 Y
UREN Mary 10 Y
UREN Ann 7 Y
UREN Grace 4 Y
UREN James 2 Y
Daughter Mary (Jane) married John JENKIN in Madron 07.05.1855 and they arrived in Sydney, Australia as assisted immigrants aboard the "Cressy" on 12 January 1856. On the shipping records they indicate that Mary Jane already had 2 sisters living in Melbourne at this time. No amount of imaginative manipulation of the Victorian Pioneer Index has revealed these ladies to date:(
Mary Jane and John JENKIN had 2 children, Rebecca Ann and Alice in Sydney NSW in 1856 and 1857 respectively and then twin girls down in Ballarat, Victoria (sadly, both of whom died shortly after birth) in 1859 and then they promptly disappeared.. or at least they have for me.
Alice, the only child to survive to adulthood was found residing in Darlinghurst, NSW in 1895 when she finally married. Her mother's name was recorded as "Wren" on the certificate.
I would dearly love to find more on Mary Jane and her sisters, so can anyone place my Uren family?
