That is great Sadra, was thinking about their migration  :) Given Margaret's death year, likely no more than maybe one or two children after their arrival in Walkerville?

That fits with the older lady looking for the Sinclair family of Dalmuir, Dunbartonshire.   My cousin met her on an air flight back to Toronto she was actually sitting next to her and during the flight she told him that she had been over looking for the Sinclairs but had been unlucky.   My cousin knew nothing of our family history and just said "Bad luck".  Aghhhh!

Sandra, is this who you have as William Dewar in earlier years?

From 1901 - everyone born in Ardrishaig, Argyllshire except for John Snr.:

John Dewar 61 fisherman b. Lochgilphead, Argyllshire
Jeanie Dewar 32 daughter
Peter Dewar 18 son, blacksmith
Agnes Dewar 11 granddaughter
William Dewar 7 grandson
Annie Dewar 5 granddaughter
Address: Reid's-lands, Lochgilphead, South Knapdale, Argyll

From the 1917 marriage entry, William showing as illegitimate, from the way it is written up.

Sylvia, you are not doing anything wrong  :) I have only attached a small snippet on the other post from the actual cert due to copyright issues here on RC.

Just send me a personal message to pick up my message to you.

I might guess that Jeanie Dewar may have worked in this household perhaps (the entry in 1901, without Jeanie, but who I think might be a possible for William's father  ::)).

William C Young 53 solicitor b. Perth
Johnna M Young 49 sister b. Perth
Helen Young 46 sister b. Perth
Address: 14 Rose Terrace, Perth, Perthshire

Sorry unexpected visitor. Yes, that seemed to be the Dewar family.

There was a border crossing from Canada to the USA for the daughter (18th Jan 1918 Dalmuir) of William and Margaret, arriving Detroit Michigan 1st Nov 1943. Unfortunately it gave no further details.
