Ballymacelligott
« on: Tuesday 07 June 05 20:33 BST (UK) »
I know that my grandfather was born in Ballymacelligott in 1881, called Francis Eaton and his father was Alexander Eaton - schoolmaster and bible reader.

I have been searching for the deaths of Alexander and his wife Elizabeth with no luck. Also looking for any information on schools (where would he have worked) and any stuff on Ballymacelligott - photos etc.

Can anyone help?

thanks Eliana

Hello Eliana,

Here is a brief description of Ballymacelligott -
From A Topographical Dictionary of Ireland by Samuel Lewis (1837)
http://homepage.eircom.net/~dinglemaps/genuki/KER/Ballymacelligott/index.html
I show this site http://www.ballymacgaa.com as the founder of the GAA came from the Parish. This next site describes Ballymacelligott Parish and shows the Townland Map of the Parish. http://www.rootsweb.com/~irlker/bmac.html

All the Best, Chris
