Frederick Forder/Fodder - Marriage 1844

Hello,

I hope that someone will be able to look up the marriage of Frederick Forder (born abt 1816 in France - British Citizen) to Sarah Holmes.

I think the marriage record may be in Fodder & BMD index shows in Loddon, Norfolk Apr Q 1844.

I am really after  Frederick's fathers name - Hopefully William ?

It would be great if someone can help

You may have to purchase the marriage certificate which will give the father's names from the GRO
www.gro.gov.uk/ using the reference details from http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl. Certificates cost £9.25.

Thank you for your reply, I am looking this information up for a friend with a 'family story' to crack so was hoping to avoid the expense of certificate (Always hopeful!).

I have had a look on the LDS site & as yet can not locate any possible matches however I am putting all the different spelling I can think of in & hopefully will get a hit.

You can use Genuki http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/REG/districts/loddon.htmlto find out which parishes are in Loddon. You can use freereg http://www.freereg.org.uk/cgi/Search.pl to find out which parishes have been transcribed and narrow down the parish registers to search. Many of them are online.

From the 1851 census Sarah was born in Geldeston, but they were not married there (PR's available on line)
Their first child Samuel was born at Chedgrave

but unfortunately the marriage PR's are not available online:-\, but they are held by the Norfolk Record Office.

There are several other Parishes in the Loddon RD (see kaysii's post) it could be any one of those

Thank you for the links I think that to crack this one I may have to visit the record centre.

Many people on Ancestry have put a William as Frederick's father but I do like to evidence as it is to clear up a 'family story' and it wouldnt help to get the wrong parents!!

The baptism record confirms Frederick's wife's  maiden name which is great.

It's a nice little puzzle for a Sunday, thank you all once again for your help

You have made my day, thank you very much indeed.

This is the link I needed, William is Frederick's father & the Caroline was his sister Fantastic (detailed with William on 1841 census)

I found William Forder/Fodder British army record yesterday under name Fooder !

He was in army from 1807 to 1823 so it is looking like Frederick was born in France when British occupying after Waterloo.

It's all looking good !
