Thomas Robert(s) HOOD
« on: Saturday 06 April 13 19:25 BST (UK) »
Thomas Robert Hood, b. around 1854 wiltshire, migrated to Australia but can't locate him on any passenger lists. May have changed his name for the journey as he was possibly a bit shady. may have married in England but also married in Australia. Cannot find any records of divorce or annulments. Settled in Victoria, Australia. may have also been known as tom Hood or Tom roberts.

Thank you Doran and Muss. Any idea of the ship he was on? Those are his parents names, so it will be him. He is my great-grandfather. He eventually settled in Adelaide, s. Australia, where I am from. i lost track of him in the UK when he has dropped off the Census but can't find any trace of his journey or of a possible marriage in England. Family mythology has him being put on a ship and sent away by the family. No evidence of him in the English criminal registers for convictions, so wht ever he did, got away with it!

There is a marriage of a Thos HOOD to an Elizabeth TERRETT in 1896 in the Vic Index.
Ref = 6636

Thos. gives his birthplace as Kent.

His marriage certificate would answer your questions about an earlier marriage.

I can see this couple in South Australia by 1897.
