McGowan Antrim Land Records 1832 to 1862
« on: Tuesday 09 April 13 08:32 BST (UK) »
I am trying to linked two Outhill McGowan families together and need help.
Records show that in 1832 there were three McGowan's farming in Outhill, John, Andrew and William.
John's line is sorted to 1900 no problem.
In 1862 after Griffiths Evaluation I can only find James, my GGGG Father.
Will the Land Revaluation Records show if James's farm came from Andrew or William?
There are no Will Probate Records for Andrew and William.
Thanks Will
McGowan: Maghera, Coleraine, Co Derry, Ireland.
Tilsley: Nantwich, Cheshire, UK.
Shattock: Bristol, Gloustershire, UK.
Warren: Cork, Co Cork, Ireland.

As James is already there at time of the Griffiths Valuation, the revaluation records will only show who the house/land was taken over by after him.

As your James and Margaret married in 1825, have you checked if church records exist for the marriage? They may note James' father if they do. It seems PRONI only hold marrigae records for Ballyrashane Presby from 1846.

Their marriage is too early for church records as far as I can find.
Your date of 1825 interests me. How did you find this date, I don't have it?
Thanks Will
