Searching for lost Barnetts
« on: Saturday 13 April 13 20:28 BST (UK) »
I am researching the Barnett family tree and so far this is what I have found;

John Barnett married a Mary ? (I believe it to be Thomas) and had a son called William Barnett (born circa 1789 d.1876) who married a Mary Harts and had the following sons, John, Isaac, William (b.1846 and d. 1886) and Joseph (b. 1849 d. 1915).  The family originates from Reynoldston, Pembrokeshire.

William and Joseph traveled to Maesteg, Glamorganshire where they stayed and Joseph was living with William and family in the 1871 census.  The William Barnett mentioned above married an Elizabeth Young and had the following children; William (b.1872), Elizabeth Edith (b.1876), Martha Jane (b.1880), Agnes (b.1882), Abraham R (1886), Evan Thomas (b. 1874), Mary Ann, Edwin (b. 1877), John Isaac (b. 1874), George Henry (b. 1879) .

Joseph (this is my family line) had the following children; William G (my great-great grandfather)(b. 1873), Seth (b.1877), Margaret Ann (b.1889), Mary Ellen (b.1886) and Joseph John (b.1892). Joseph Barnett was married to an Emily Seabourne (b.1843 d.1874) between 1873 to 1874 and to a Margaret O'Bryant (born circa. 1858  d. 1928)  between 1877 to his death in 1915.

I am searching now for living descendants of William Barnett and Elizabeth Young, possibly still living in the Maesteg area. If you have done any family research and found Barnett's in your family, or you're a Barnett male (still carrying the surname) and recognise the above names as part of your own research, please get in touch by replying to me (Private Message). I will be looking forward to hearing from you.

Sources: 1841 to 1901 census and parish records.
