Registration of death
« on: Tuesday 16 April 13 18:41 BST (UK) »
Trying to pinpoint a death if possible. Thomas David is on 1851 Census living at Swansea Old Road in Village of Cwmburla. 1861 Census says wife Anne is a Widow. Am I right in thinking the death would be registered at Swansea. The Census says Swansea Higher but family also lived at Neath Higher on 1841 Census. Ages are not given at this time but Thomas was baptised 1802 at Llandarrog Carmarthenshire and married Anne Rees 1821 at Llanelly. Any help out there to pinpoint his death or anyone researching family? Many thanks, Syljun

Hi,

The death would registered where Thomas died, not necessarily Swansea.

Hi, Makes things more difficult. 1861 Census Anne is living in Neath - Age 68 Proprietor of Houses.
Cannot make out address but living on her own. Thomas could have died there. He was a Farm Labourer.
I wonder what "Proprietor of Houses" means. Landlord, but living on her own. Do not like the sound of it from what I have learned it could be  "Houses of Ill repute". Anyone have an answer?
Would be interested in any suggestions.
Syljun

Would sks look on 1871 Census to see if Anne/Ann David is still living in Neath please. Her age on 1861 Census is 68. She gives her birthplace as Cadoxton and is a Widow. Thanks, Syljun
