Emma Crane, Milliner in Framlingham born in Northampton COMPLETED
« on: Saturday 20 April 13 00:28 BST (UK) »
Have just been 'walking' right through Framlingham District 8 1901 looking for Emma, she was a Milliner in Bridge Street.  Have found her in 1911 a single woman of 45 years, living on her own above the shop.

She is listed in Kelly's for 1900 as Milliner at same address.

I cannot find any trace of her in 1901.

Have been tracking a family in Northampton with father William a Saddler and mother Eliza, they have children including an Emma.  However age is ten years out so not sure this could be her.

Wondered if fresh eyes could locate her in 1901?

This is not my family, but a friend here in Fram and I am trying to help find out a little more about her great-great-aunt who left Northamptonshire and set up a Milliners before 1900 (as far as we can tell). Quite an enterprising young woman  8)

Pat

FreeBMD seems to confirm her age

Emma Elizabeth CRANE reg JunQ 1855 Northampton Ref: 3b/75  Could see no others between then and 1870 registered in Northampton.  (only 2 others one in Lutterworth on in Mkt Harboro).

Perhaps like most women she was reluctant to reveal her real age :)

Thank you K2, it seems the saddler/harness maker William is indeed the father of Emma and we have made a great deal of progress today.

I think with all the information we now have this can be moved to completed.

Many thanks, Pat ...
