Date and Restore please

Hopefully the size is suitable. Please date this ancestor's photo thank you, and restore if possible. Colour is appreciated.
This is a photocopy of the original, I don't know if the original exists.

1890s sometime, but the best clues have been cropped off....if we could see the whole thing please including the outer corners, and also the back if there is any printing on it.

I see the photographer is Padgham....unusual name and I have Padghams.

And thank you China for the approximation, I will ask about the original again. The date of 1890's is significant as the lady in question died in Sept 1893 which is the same year Everett B. Padgham was married (August 1893). He had an established photography business in St. Charles prior to marriage.

My ancestor died at the age of 52 if she looks to be about that age in the photo?

Okay, could well be 1893ish. The style of sleeves called leg-o-mutton got more enormous as the decade progressed until about 1897 when they went out of style. Since we can't see the lower end of the sleeves, looking just at the shoulder I'd say 1893 is a very reasonable date.

I'll have to see if I can find Everett Padgham
