Where did little Charlotte go?
« on: Sunday 21 April 13 00:45 BST (UK) »
I've had little Charlotte waiting in the wings for some time now, but today it's her turn in the spotlight to see what we can find out. :-\

Charlotte Martin b. 1858 Great Catworth

1861 - living with mother Miriam, brother Daniel George and grandparents James and Sophia

Miriam has 3 illegitimate children - Daniel George b. 1855, Charlotte and William b. 1867

I can't find little Charlotte after the '61, so I think she must have died, but can find no record through A........y

Would love to know what happened to her if anyone is able to help ???

First thought was Miriam married but no.Probably an un-registered death and burial, nothing shown on familysearch.org. You might need  SKS who can visit local cemetery, tree owner on A******y is from Bedford.

No sign of her is there  :(

I agree she probably died before 1871 as the family seem to stick together.

Whilst her death registration may have gone adrift, her burial should be there, if indeed she died. Gt Catworth burials on the NBI only go up to 1837. I'd be checking the parish register for burials between 1861 and 1871, but unfortunately the LDS was refused permission to film them, and there's no transcript available from Hunts FHS. Hunts Archives run an efficient and friendly research service for a modest fee.

Many thanks for your replies David, Milliepede and warncoort.

I've just found a contact for the Hunts archives and sent an email, so hopefully they will be able to help.

Thanks again  :)

I've now been able to tidy up little Charlotte, thanks to Rootschatter advice.

Through the Hunts Archives I now have Charlotte's burial details.  They were very quick to reply to my initial enquiry, and to find the details I needed for a very small fee.

Little Charlotte didn't live for very long, but at least she is now recorded properly on my tree, which makes me feel good.

Thanks again  :)
