Captain of the Gold Coast Regiment, Royal West African Frontier Force

My grandfather Douglas William Sykes (1914-2001) is stated as being a Captain of the Gold Coast Regiment (Marriage documents state that - 1942). The R.W.A.F.F. comprised of:

The Gold Coast Regiment - 1 battalion infantry and 1 battery mountain artillery.
Northern Nigeria Regiment
Southern Nigeria Regiment
The Sierra Leone Battalion
The Gambia Company

In 1943, I presume he was back in England considering he is in the "No 1. Holding Battalion" of the R.A.S.C. officers photo, taken at Aldershot.

I would like to know what his duties were in the Gold Coast Regiment, he seems to be moving around between the Gold Coast Regiment and the R.A.S.C. - He was also in the 7th and 8th Leeds Rifles The West Yorkshire Regiment (TA) in 1933, most likely before that, although he was promoted to Second Lieutenant in 1933.

Can someone explain all this moving around? After the war he stayed in Uganda until the earl 50s.

Kind Regards,

Sykes
