That last bit looks added later....maybe "Cert" as in certified??

On first look i was with you "Scraptor"  whatever that is!

Someone may come up with something better but if the next census says stone mason then i would simply go with that!

The word at the end looks like it was added later by someone else with a different handwriting.

Could it possibly be "scriptor" - i.e., one who carves lettering, as on gravestones etc?
Threlfall (Southport), Isherwood (lancs & Canada), Newbould + Topliss(Derby), Keating & Cummins (Ireland + lancs), Fisher, Strong& Casson (all Cumberland) & Downie & Bowie, Linlithgow area Scotland . Also interested in Leigh& Burrows,(Lancashire) Griffiths (Shropshire & lancs), Leaver (Lancs/Yorks) & Anderson(Cumberland and very elusive)

If you google it, the word 'Scrapler' appears as an occupation related to stone work and quarries on several English census listings. Not sure what it means, but the word is probably exactly as written - Scrapler.
England:  Archer, Bailey, Bates, Blower, Bosworth, Court, Hicklin, Orton, Palmer, Robbins, Sedgwick, Smith, Stevenson, Stone, Varnam, Wakelin, Walker
Canada:  Archer, Walker, Spencer, Shepherd
Australia:  Taplin
South Africa:  Risley

it does appear numerous times doesnt it. I wonder now , using the post before, whether it is an old word for Scriptor.....that would make sense, a Certified Scriptor......one who engraves, etc......there was no definition or anything else for Scrapler was there sadly.....so maybe it is either a defunct word or Scriptor.....i'll go for Scriptor i think :D thanks for the help!    ;D
