He did seem to like using that middle initial of G (maybe Gordon?). Can't as yet find the connecting shipping manifest entry to see where that Donald G Dunn might have come from originally...

Just looking at Australian newspapers re a man called Donald Gordon Gunn.
He fits the profile of the man found by Monica, who was travelling to Australia aboard the Medic in 1909
This man lived in Adelaide, and there a a number of articles on him dated 1913 in connection with a fire at a hotel.
Although it appears in various newspapers, all the articles more or less read the same.
It does say that he was an educated young man,who called himself Scotty.
Is it coincidence that he a knowledge of the hotel trade?
He died in 1931. Age 56 a native of Scotland

Gosh, lots of info there now.

Anne, how sad if he did go on to commit suicide in 1931  :-\ Weird that the next piece goes on to mention Sutherland something...given where we likely last found him in Scotland in 1901.

Sandra, well done for that likely burial entry/photo. I hadn't heard of billiongraves.com until the last few days, strange that it comes up again this way.

A Million thanks "Ladies " without your help I would never have managed to find all this information.

Now it has me wondering why his father cut him out of his will leaving the hotel to his brother and sister £250 to him and £200 pounds to each of his step sisters.

Yes seems like it Monica -- John Gunn must have worked hard to get the hotel as when he married

Rose Bingham he was a butler.

Donald was only 13 when his mother died and then not long after a stepmother came on the scene

does make you wonder.

Maybe he got into trouble and that was why he was sent to his uncles.
