Marriage lookups - St Peter's, Alton

I'd be really grateful if anyone could lookup the following marriages for me please, at St Peter's, Alton:

18 Jan 1779 - John Cope to Mary Brindley
8 Nov 1823 - George Cope to Sarah Hall
2 Jan 1837 - George Cope to Charlotte Kent

Have the info from FreeREG but would love to know if there's any more detail in the registers. If allowed, a photo would be the icing on the cake

I can't help you with the Cope/Brindley - marriage.

George Cope - Sarah Hall - as follows..
George Cope of parish of Leigh - bachelor and Sarah Hall -  of this parish - spinster - where married by banns - this 23 November 1823, by me Thomas Blackey - Vicar of Alton.
Witnesses: Samuel Hall (X) Hannah Flower (x).

George Cope - Charlotte Kent - both of this parish, were married by banns - 28 January 1837, by J.P. Jones - Vicar.
Witnesses: John Cope - Elizabeth Elks.
NOTE: there is no mention of the fact that George Cope was a widower and Charlotte Kent - widow -

Hi Sarra,

Thanks for those; as it happens, if 'my' George is the one baptised in Gratwich (as on the George Cope / Charlotte Kent topic) then I don't need the John Cope / Mary Brindley one anyway (I had them as possible parents for George, as I was looking for Alton, though they were married a good few years before George was born, so I had my doubts).

Where did you find the George Cope / Sarah Hall marriage? Only wondering as the FreeREG entry says George was from Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire, not Leigh, so I'm just curious as to what the actual entry says.

I got it from- St Peter's Alton Staffordshire - BMBurials - on microfiche.

I have just come across the marriage information for George Cope/Sarah Hall.
This was downloaded in 2007 from the Family History Online website - which is now no more.
8 Nov 1823 at Alton in county STS groom George Cope - bachelor - residence LEIGH - Bride Sarah Hall - spinster - residence in county.
Note: So I actually got the information from two different places - and they both say 'LEIGH'.
Perhaps query the entry on FreeReg.

FreeREG have checked the entry and it should be LEIGH (makes so much more sense than Leighton Buzzard).
