Marriage of McGee & Boyd
« on: Monday 06 May 13 19:40 BST (UK) »
I would appreciate a lookup of the marriage of John Mcgee & Mary Ann Boyd that took place on 28th March 1839 at Lylehill, Antrim, Ireland. I am interested in knowing the names of the parents, witnesses or any other pertinent information listed.

Thanks,
Glenda

Civil registration of Catholic marriages started in 1864 and non-Catholic ones in 1845 and the marriage registers contain a standardised format. Before these dates the record of a marriage would have appeared in various church records (some better kept than others) depending on the church and the clergyman. For the date you are looking for the details are often just the date, name of bride and groom and possibly name of clergyman. It would be rare to see father's name and I've never come across mother's name listed.
Not all early church records exist. Do you know what religion the couple were?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thanks for the reply. John McGee & Mary Ann Boyd were Presbyterian.
