James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

Honora Costello 2
Julia Costello 32
John Conner 28

Thank you both.

This is a strange one for me, I had been searching on FindMyPast with no luck.

I have now tried with Ancestry, using your info.,  and found the record.

Going back to FindMyPast with the information from Ancestry, still does not give me their 1961  record. ( I will have to get OH to check on his computer, later ).

Thanks again for your help.

Mystery solved.

FindMyPast have the family transcribed as COSTER

When the original image is viewed however, they are clearly entered as COSTELLO.  First child Thomas, is also incorrectly transcribed as JAMES.

The address is Spon Lane, as in 1871

i have contacted FindMyPast., detailed the errors  and received this response

A member of our Customer Services Team will review the document and if an amendment to the transcription is needed, we will update the record on our site within 28 days.
