Kerr of clondermot
« on: Wednesday 08 May 13 08:01 BST (UK) »
Hello, I am trying to research a maternal line of mines the kerrs. So far I have got back to john kerr of clondermot who is born in tyrone.

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Londonderry/Glendermot/Ballyore/1539075/

I believe his mother is phillips but I am not sure. I cannot find any births in 1855 or there abouts.

If you read this paper you will see a mention of john kerr and his grandfather george phillips.

There is also a william phillips aged 75 who may be his uncle. The house is owned by john kerr.

Thats all I have. I believe catherine is catherine mellon and I believe they got married in clogher so perhaps john kerr is from clogher.

Hello kingskerwell that is the marriage. Can you see anything about parents? I was thinking of ordering the marriage certificate but I ordered one a few weeks ago and it just had the father which is of no use to me

Irish marriage certificates only list fathers' names and occupations- mothers are not listed.

Ok so how do I find out john kerrs parents? I dont know what church he was born in. I cannot find anything on george phillips either, he is not in emerald ancestors or the 1901 census. And even if I order the marriage certificate there are that many kerrs in tyrone its gonna be hard to establish who it is.

Please be patient and don't keep demanding help quickly. "Anybody find anything? Any tips towards getting back further?" was posted here about 2 1/2 hours after your last query on this topic, you then posted this morning for the same family on Tyrone board (which I've removed) "Hello, I have decided to ask on the tyrone thread as I got ignored on the Londonderry thread or else they didnt find anything."

Rootschat is not a research service. It is a forum where members are extremely generous with their time and go to great lengths to help others. We have jobs, families and other commitments. If anyone can and wishes to post information on your topic they will do so.

P.S. if you had looked at the Tyrone board you would have seen a notice that your topic had been temporarily removed.
