seeking Green Family details
« on: Saturday 11 May 13 03:09 BST (UK) »
Hi guys, I am trying to find information on William John Green who was born in England 1879,
he emmigrated to South Africa with his family when he was young. he married Mary Irons b.1886, they had one child Peggy  who married a David Hardy. I think William died as the result of an accident. Mary, her daughter and son-in-law and their children emmigrated to Australia in 1961. Any help would be appreciated
cheers
Craig

Hi found this on NAAIRS website.
DEPOT  TAB SOURCE    MHG   TYPE   LEER VOLUME_NO 0                                                                     SYSTEM    01 REFERENCE 85962  PART 1  DESCRIPTION  GREEN, WILLIAM JOHN. STARTING  19330000 ENDING    19330000  REMARKS   SURVIVING SPOUSE MARY GREEN. BORN IRENS.
To obtain pictures of documents held in the National Archives. Go to http://www.eggsa.org and select Content --> On Line Shop --> order Archive documents.  Once you have selected the currency, select "Enter the Shop" and then select "Archive photos" (in yellow on the blue band) and follow the instructions. They are only able to organise the photographing of documents from the South African Archives at Pretoria (TAB), Bloemfontein (VAB), Pietermaritzburg (NAB) and Durban(TBD). Other archives such as KAB require a researcher to transcribe documents by hand as no copying by camera or photocopying is allowed. Rates are cheap especially if ordering from overseas.
Hope this helps regards Derek.

Hi have you tried this link? http://www.eggsa.org/library/main.php
You can search for pictures of graves in South Africa, not all graves have been photographed however. It would appear William would have been buried or cremated in Pretoria (TAB).

Cheers Derek

Hi Derek,
Is there any way of finding William's parents or when they
may have arrived in South Africa

Cheers Craig
