Writing can be hard sometimes to make out or image can be very faint. When this happens, you can always contact SP to request a better scan if required. They are very good at responding to this type of request - see www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/content/help/index.aspx?r=1210

We also have a deciphering help board here on RC where people can try to work with you to figure out all sorts of writings etc - see www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,425.0.html
