NSW: Charles William Wright TAITT
« on: Monday 20 May 13 14:22 BST (UK) »
Hello,

Charles William Wright TAITT was born in London in 1831 and died in Penrith on 28/11/1922.   His wife, Jane, died on 06/12/1916.

He had originally been transported on the "Randolph" in 1849 and given a TOL for Bathurst.  He  then re-offended in 1854 and sentenced at Bathurst to 10 years on the roads (courtesy of TROVE).

I wonder if anyone has any knowledge of his life between 1864 and his death, for instance, date of marriage, children, occcupations and any other interesting snippets.

Thank you

Tony Cocks

Thank You Gerry,

The information you have retrieved is beginning to dovetail and a reasonable family picture is emerging......it is a pity that I can't access the Ancestry records "down under", which I know are there courtesy of Google, but cost too much to add to my UK membership.

There are a few pieces still needed, marriage date and his occupation(s) etc., but otherwise I am delighted with the response to my enquiry.

For now,

Tony

 :)

From the 1870 NSW Electoral Roll for CARCOAR (thanks Neil  ;D )
William TAIT, (qualified to be enrolled by residency at) TRUNKEY CREEK .....

1878 NSW ER CARCOAR
TAIT John F G, residence Brown's Creek
TAIT Francis, residence Brown's Creek near Carcoar
TAIT Robert D M, residence Brown's Creek
WRIGHT, Richard, residence Trunkey Creek
WRIGHT, Robert, residence Burn's Creek
WRIGHT, Robert junr, residence Burn's Creek
WRIGHT, Samuel, residence Belubula
WRIGHT, William, residence Burnt Yards
WRIGHT, William, leasehold, Burn's Creek   ( agh 'leasehold'  possibly extant papertrail)
WRIGHT, James, residence Mandurama Ponds
WRIGHT, William, leasehold, Burn's Creek (JM types : Tony, yes, I am NOT duplicating an entry  ;D)

So, I have NOT found "Charles TAITT" at Carcoar, BUT it was not compulsory to enrol.  Rolls were prepared by the Police Department ..... perhaps Charles was a tad hesitant to report in  :)

Cheers,  JM
