Hello.
   Do hope you can help me in any-way possible. my question is reseaching my russell family tree..and have george russell in 1911 with is wife.sarah bedford.of three years.when looked place of birth for sarah said Barbados .west indies.sarah was 21 in 1911,so eighteen when married george.so born 1890.how can i find information on her.like when came to england.sadly do not know her mothers name or father, would it be best to get the marriage cert first before seeking help.

To be certain of her father's name it would be best to purchase George and Sarah's marriage certificate.

Marriage took place at St Saviour, York.

Looking at the 1911 for a Toni Bedford and Emma Bertha there is a likely match for a Tom and Emma Bertha Maud Bedford.

There are army service records for Tom Bedford born 1863, Snaith, Rollington which has details of marriage to Emma Bertha Porteous ? and children including Sarah Elizabeth Bedford.

      First thank you all for your prompt reply to my querry. have just rung my uncle fred who is 97.and asked him .if he knew.Sarah Bedfords mother and father.fred said.her mother was always known as mrs bedford. never heard her first name spoken in the house.have children of sarah.george 1912.thomas w..1913.leonard 1920.ada 1922. and a constance.says grandaughter.
fred also thinks sarahs father was a sailor .but was never seen by the family.so have my work cut out for sarahs birth.would it be possible to find her travel over to england.or would it be too hard without a name of ship.thats if she came over by ship.
 any-way thank you all. and will buy the wedding cert might say mother who knows.

Marriage certificate won t usually show mothers name unless she s a witness, I think the above info starting with the familysearch suggestion is a good bet.
