Printer problems
« on: Friday 31 May 13 09:43 BST (UK) »
Hi

I don't know whether anyone can help?

I have suddenly started having problems with my laptop and printer.  I can't print anything from Word, the web, Excel etc  Can only print pdfs so I have to create everything into pdf first and then print.

I have a Dell Studio laptop with Windows 7, and an HP lazerjet printer which until recently had worked fine.  In excel the message that comes up is
'your file could not be printed due to an error on HP Lazerjet 1020 on Ne01'

I'm not too sure what Ne01 refers to, as my printer is plugged into a USB001?

Can anyone help please?

Kerry - my knowledge is extremely limited in this area, but "Ne01" suggests a network location rather than the USB port on your computer to me. Do you have a network? Have you checked your settings under Control Panel (I don't use Windows 7 normally, but think it still has this)?

Hope someone has more useful knowledge than me!

Hi mshrmh

Thank you for your reply.  No I don't have a network.  I'll have a look at the settings in control panel.  Its weird how I can print pdfs but nothing directly

Well that's weird, I changed the ports and back again in settings and deleted the device and then reinstalled and it is now working.  So maybe without knowing what the heck I've done I've cleared whatever problem there was!
