Valuation Rolls/Street Directories
« on: Friday 31 May 13 11:04 BST (UK) »
Hi

Are Valuation Rolls and Street Directories the same thing?

I have run out of credits and wondered if there is anywhere else they can be looked at as I have one more I would like to find if  he was around in 1895 and 1905?

Kind regards

They are not the same. Valuation Rolls list the owner, any tenant or occupier and the annual rent or value of each property. Directories do not include all properties. You find a mixture of individuals and businesses. The National Library of Scotland website gives you free access to many of the older Scottish directories.

Hi GR2

(Doesn't look like my first thank you went through), so thank you for your reply and explanation, I will have a look at the site you mentioned.

Kind regards
