Looking for Jane Allan's (nee Rutherford) Burial Place
« on: Monday 03 June 13 06:12 BST (UK) »
Along with Polymann, we have been looking for the burial place for Jane who passed away 30 May 1861, at Farnaughty, Parish of Enzie. Her husband, James Allan died after the 1851 census, but before the 1861 census, also living in the same area. There is another topic under his name.

We have not been able to locate for sure his death details nor where he is buried. As the 1851 census describes him as "pauper, formerly farm servant" it is quite possible that he at best only had a marked grave stone. Jane remained alive for another 7-9 years, and according to the 1851 census, their daughter Margaret and her son George Mortimer were living with them.

I have not accessed the 1861 census to see what the circumstances were then, not what happened to Margaret or George.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers
Ian

Margaret married John Wiseman 30th November 1857 and it is this John Wiseman who is the informant for Jane's death. I haven't found any of them on the 1861 census. Nothing on George Mortimer.

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
