Hi there
I have a couple of lonely Proctors On my tree. However There is a slim chance that you may be able to help as my Proctors are from the border of Yorks and Notts.
Unfortunately all I have is George Proctor-Platts1843-Whitwell married to Fanny Rotherforth in 1869 at Harthill. Georges Mother was Christiana(presumably Proctor). I know it is a long straw but at least there is a small chance that you may be able to see some connection.

Hi Denn,

Thankyou for writing.  Sadly I do not recognise any of the names (or places) you mentioned from your tree, so I am afraid I cannot help you at this time.  If anything should come up in the future I will happily let you know, but in the meantime, happy hunting and good luck, Diana

Just wondered if my PROCTORs are of any relation. Anything ring a bell?

I have Sarah Ann PROCTOR b. 1840, South Cave, Yorks. She married Samuel MAUD and lived in Hull.

Her mother and father were William and Jane PROCTOR. I'm not sure of birth details, but have father down as b. 1803 in Howden and mother b. 1804 in either South Cave or Louth, Lincs

It was the  Louth link I thought might be relevent

Greetings to both Gill and Geoff who have both written to me today.

Sorry Gill, but the names you mention are not familiar to me.  To my knowledge my Proctors only lived in Lincoln (the City) after moving there from Newark in Nottinghamshire.

To Geoff:

Many many thanks for your help Geoff.  I have actually, just a couple of hours ago, re-subbed to Ancestry, so that I could look up all my ancestors on the 1851, so you have saved me a job, and I much appreciate your help.

To both of you, Happy hunting, Diana in Tropical Far North Queensland, Australia (32c and very sultry today - yuk!)

Pretty much the same answer as Dianna,
However we are in the same area so there is a distinct possibility of something turning up.
I always hope and keep a weather eye on these posts.

Just as an added interest,
While researching the Proctors of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire I came across this page
http://www.geocities.com/seraphim_angel_2002/PriscillaBiggadyke.html
I wonder if this nice chap was a relative of any of us.

Hi Denn, Well, I read the whole website with great interest, but am pleased to report that I don't appear to have ever had anyone named Thomas Proctor in 'my' lot, 'specially as he was reputed to be such an 'uncooth' (sic) person! :o   It would be interesting to see if we could find out where he was born, and into which family.

I don't believe I have anyone from that part of Lincolnshire, but funnily enough, the name of the neighbour who gave evidence....Mary Ann Clarke, is the same as someone in my lot.......mine too young to be the widow in the story.  She married a Parke, and a Parke married a Proctor.

Very interesting.  Thanks for bringing the story to my attention.  Diana
