Yes, this one did partly emerge during the drought in the nineties. As you say, sad in many ways. I think there are other sunken villages in England. I think there are some in the hills abobe Littleborough and Ripponden. I've a theory a family house is under one of them but I need to go into that yet. Put it this way, it isn't anywhere else!
I guess we're a;l gglad of runnibg water though.
Over the years though, I'm realising how many men and even families were involved in the temporary settlements working on large enginneering projects. You tend to think the fells were sparsely populated.
I've also had peoplee invoved in the mining settlements followed by the workers on the Waterworks at Thirlmere, and also the Carlisle Settle Railway. Many huundreds of miles from home.
