Some great old photos thanks Emms .... but quite sad really  .

I remember years ago during a drought, that a flooded village emerged - just wondering if it was this ('95 drought is mentioned). Wonder if there are any others in England?

Yes, this one did partly emerge during the drought in the nineties.  As you say, sad in many ways.  I think there are other sunken villages in England.  I think there are some in the hills abobe Littleborough and Ripponden.  I've a theory a family house is under one of them but I need to go into that yet.  Put it this way, it isn't anywhere else!

I guess we're a;l gglad of runnibg water though.

Over the years though, I'm realising how many men and even families were involved in the temporary settlements working on large enginneering projects.  You tend to think the fells were sparsely populated.

I've also had peoplee invoved in the mining settlements followed by the workers on the Waterworks at Thirlmere, and also the Carlisle Settle Railway.  Many huundreds of miles from home.

There is a scanned copy of the "Poll for knights of the shire to represent the county of Westmorland" available under Google books.

Using search terms "poll knights shire Westmorland" should be sufficient to locate it.

It then serves as a census for all males eligible to vote in the Westmorland election of 1818 and their place of residence.

There is a scanned copy of the "Poll for knights of the shire to represent the county of Westmoreland taken at Appleby in 1826" available in the internet archive.

Using search terms "Westmoreland poll knights" should be sufficient to locate it (but note the extra e in Westmorland).

It then serves as a census for all males eligible to vote in the Westmorland election of 1826 and their place of residence.   The poll was taken on successive days between Thursday 22 June and Saturday 1 July (excluding the Sunday).
