Badly damaged photo - any help appreciated!

There may be no hope for this one, but I said I'd give it a try! Would someone be able to have a go at restoring this old photo for me?

This is doable but a higher resolution scan will help us to see the finer details. If you have the original and can rescan it at 300 dpi, in color with no compression you will get better results
