LIVERPOOL CENTRAL LIBRARY, FREEMENS COMMITTEE BOOK 1756-1939 - GUY
« on: Wednesday 19 June 13 12:20 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help with this please.

I believe the reference for this source is 7 352 CLE/REG/1 Freemens Committe Book 1756 - 1939.
This should contain records of a persons indentured to a trade and their right to be freemen.

I am looking for a record for Peter Guy, b1779. He would have started an apprenticeship aged about 14, so about 1793. He was a bricklayer and in later census he is described as a bricklayer journeyman, implying he had been apprenticed. 2 of his sons are on record in 1832 as being freemen through servitude as bricklayers.

I understand there is also an Apprentice enrolment book for 1707-1881 but I don't know if this is held at the library. I know LDS have it on film but I don't have a film viewer.

Many thanks if this can be done.

Zannette.

I looked at the Freemens Commitee Book in the Liverpool Central Library and the only 'Peter GUY' was:

Peter GUY.  Occupation: Staymaker. Indentued to: James LAPSELL (registered: 1st March 1761). Served: 7Yrs from 8th September 1787, enrolled: 25th May 1796.

I checked up to 1811.

Hi, thank you very much for doing that. It was never certain that he would be in, but at least I now know. I'm very grateful.

Best wishes
