1891 CENSUS REQUEST KENT JAMES
« on: Saturday 10 July 04 12:15 BST (UK) »
I do hope you can help.

Looking for this family in Canterbury area.

Info from 1881 Census.

1881 Canterbury Dwelling:   52 Stour Street Canterbury St Mildred, Kent, England
      James F. JAMES   M   39    M   Chelmsford, Essex, England
      Rel:   Head Occ:   Master Baker
Elizabeth JAMES   M   41    F   Headington, Oxford, England
      Rel:   Wife
Felix H. JAMES       7    M   Ilfracombe, Devon, England
      Rel:   Son
Francis Ernest JAMES       6    M London Hackney, London,
      Rel:   Son
Herbert ((James)) JAMES       2    M   Ashford, Kent, England
      Rel:   Son

Please NOTE:
In 1901 Census James Fison James has moved to East Ham in Essex (London border)
His wife Sarah also has died about 1885 and a son Thomas born in Canterbury in 1882.

However the boys excluding Felix James were shown in Canterbury in 1901.

This probably indicates that the family were living in Canterbury in 1891.

Thanks again for your incredible help.
Very much appreciated.

Regards
john

Thanks Chris,

Any idea where
James Fison JAMES   born 1842  Chelmsford (or Springfield), Essex, England, Master Baker was in 1891C?

In 1901C he was in East Ham, Essex

could he have been living away from his family?

or elsewhere in Kent?

Appreciate your input.

Thanks
Regards
john

Hi again John

Done a global search on the 1891 census:

James Fison James produced Nill results in the census
James F James produced 6 matches – but non that match up with your criteria
James James produced 526 matches; of which 26 showed a connection with Essex but non of those 26 showed a connection with Chelmsford.
Non of the above were either 48 or 49 (born 1842)

So where was he? Eizabeth his wife was shown as Head of Household - so who knows what was ging on?
