Hi Can anyone help this old lady been trying to
find my gfather & gmother, gfather's name was
William Burnley Maugham born in Ireland OR England
gMother Annie M Payce Maugham 4 children three born
in England-William ? 1889- Florance E 1890-1 - Fred Beswick-1892  were married in Feb 19 1889 Kingston upon Hull-came to USA sometime (1894-1895) one son James J-born New York City 1897- Grand Father was a Actor Grand Mother a Dancer- young William passed in 1897 NYC==My Father was Fred B Maugham he passed in 1948-now I found out that all used the name of Leland in show biz,Have tryed everything and keep hitting a BIG WALL. THANK YOU

To research your family during their time in England, the best clues will probably be on the marriage certifcate.  Do please post all the info on the certificate ie. name, ages, marital status, occupations, addresses, fathers' names & occupations and the names of the marriage witnesses.

With this information, it will, hopefully, perhaps make it a little easier to locate them somewhere for you.

First To Tati Yes that is My Father someone spelled my dad's name wrong it is Beswick not Debwick, born in Rochdale,31 Macmillan St Nov 27 1892
and to
Casalguidi,GFather,William Burnley Maugham-Actor Comedian
music hall artist- 28-his Father Garat Maugham  Engine fitter I have never been able to fine Garrat .     -Annie Mitchel Payce-21 born in Sheffield Yorks.
Father William Herny Payce -panter- both fathers were  Deceased at time of marrage both gf & gm unmarried-  married sister
Elizabeth Beswick & George Edward Whitelam witnesses -both gp's living in Hull at time of marrage- at 103 Caborne St still dont know why the name change-to Leland in the USA,I do know they were living in the Bronx N.Y. in 1900. after that i lost them.
